Madhu Sachidananda is a research student in the centre for SMART funded by EPSRC. She is doing her research on modelling water consumption in manufacturing applications.
Madhu holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering and Management from Visvesvaraya Technological University, Bangalore, India and a Master’s Degree in Manufacturing Engineering from Loughborough University.
The outcome of her research is the development of a Water Minimisation Framework and an integrated knowledge based tool that includes:
(i) A simulation engine to visualise the flows of water in a manufacturing plant to perform a 'what-if' scenario planning
(ii) A decision support tool that utilises a number of water efficiency equations to identify water intensive production system and processes that suggests water optimisation scenarios through design and operational improvements.
